Spirit of the Greeks

In celebration of Greek music and culture, this book is a first of its kind. A publication that has been granted a licence to publish ten specially arranged songs for classical guitar deeply embedded in Greek culture. Following the population exchange of 1923 between Greece and Turkey, Greek music began to develop in new directions primed by the newly arrived immigrants. Over subsequent years, changes in instrumentation, censorship and fusion with native music forms led to what today we identify as Greek music.
'
'Spirit of the Greeks' includes a brief account of the Important driving forces that led to the birth of modern Greek music followed by sheet music and tablature to the songs listed for classical guitar.

Mark can be heard demonstrating these arrangements on the album 'Spirit of the Greeks' also available on Amazon, Spotify and Apple (see below).

"Mark Hussey is a well-known classical guitarist amongst the UK’s guitarist community, and he has won the rank of one of the foremost solo guitar players around, with his unique talent, performance and arranging skills. With this book he nostalgically takes us Greeks back to our roots, with a selection of pieces from a well-known Greek repertoire, arranged as solo pieces for both the classical and the acoustic guitar. I will use this book as a handbook for my future solo performances"
